■Product Overview
GYTS53 is an outdoor optical fiber cable commonly specified for underground direct buried routes where higher mechanical protection is required. It uses a stranded loose tube core with water-blocking compound and a steel tape armor with double PE sheaths (inner + outer). Depending on the supplier’s design, the armor arrangement may be a single steel tape layer between inner and outer sheath, or a reinforced variant using additional protective layers—final construction is confirmed by the approved cable drawing.
■Typical Applications
Direct buried telecom backbone / distribution routes
Underground sections with higher risk of crush/impact and moisture exposure
Duct sections where extra rodent resistance or mechanical margin is required (project-dependent)
■Cable Construction
Typical structure (center → outside):
1.Optical fibers (250 μm) housed in PBT loose tubes, tubes filled with water-resistant compound
2.Central strength member: metallic strength member (commonly steel wire; some designs add a PE layer over it for certain fiber counts)
3.Stranding: loose tubes and fillers stranded around the strength member; cable core filled/treated with water-blocking material
4.Water-blocking layer: water-blocking tape/yarns or flooding compound (design-dependent)
5.Steel tape armor: corrugated/steel tape applied longitudinally (commonly described as “steel tape armor / PSP / CST”)
6.Inner PE sheath extruded over the armored core
7.Outer PE sheath extruded for additional protection (double sheath “53” configuration)
Note: Some market listings describe “double armored” variants for direct burial; if you supply a two-armor design, state it clearly in the final drawing and datasheet.
■Fiber Options
Single-mode: ITU-T G.652.D is widely used for GYTS53 builds
Multimode: available on request (specify OM grade if required)
■Fiber Identification
Standard 12-color sequence (typical):
Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Gray, White, Red, Black, Yellow, Violet, Pink, Aqua.■Mechanical & Environmental Performance (Typical Direct-Buried Grade)
1.Allowable Tensile Load
Short term: 3000 N
Long term: 1000 N
2.Allowable Crush Resistance
Short term: 3000 N/100 mm
Long term: 1000 N/100 mm
3.Minimum Bending Radius
Commonly specified for heavy-duty outdoor cables as:
Static: ≥ 12.5 × cable OD
Dynamic: ≥ 25 × cable OD
(If your production drawing specifies 10D/20D, publish your actual values; bending radius is design-dependent.)
4.Temperature Range (Typical)
Operation: -40 °C to +70 °C
Storage/transport: -40 °C to +70 °C
■Typical Dimensions & Weight (Reference)
The table below is a commonly published range for GYTS53. Final OD/weight varies with tube configuration, sheath thickness, and armor design.
Fiber Count Nominal OD (mm) Nominal Weight (kg/km) Tensile (Short/Long, N) Crush (Short/Long, N/100mm) 2–30 13.2 162 3000 / 1000 3000 / 1000 32–48 13.8 175 3000 / 1000 3000 / 1000 50–72 14.6 205 3000 / 1000 3000 / 1000 74–96 16.0 230 3000 / 1000 3000 / 1000 98–144 17.6 285 3000 / 1000 3000 / 1000 >144 available on request — — — ■Optical Performance (Single-Mode, Typical Limits)
When G.652.D fiber is specified, common published limits include:
Attenuation (max): 1310 nm / 1550 nm values per selected fiber grade (supplier to provide fiber datasheet).
Cable cut-off wavelength: commonly specified ≤ 1260 nm for G.652-class builds.
For project documentation, bind the final fiber datasheet to the cable drawing and test report set.
■Standards & Test References (Common)
Many manufacturers reference IEC 60794 series for mechanical and environmental testing of outdoor fiber optic cables; acceptance criteria are typically defined by routine test plans and purchase specifications.
■Marking, Packaging, Storage
Sheath marking: typically includes manufacturer/type/fiber count and sequential length marking (format can be customized by order).
Packaging: supplied on wooden drums; drum length depends on cable size and logistics.
Storage: keep cable ends sealed; store drums upright on stable ground and avoid impact to flanges.
■Installation Notes (Direct Burial)
Confirm trench depth, bedding/sand requirements, warning tape placement, and backfill method per local practice/spec.
Control pulling tension (do not exceed allowable tensile load) and maintain minimum bending radius during laying and routing.
Recommend OTDR and insertion loss testing after installation.
